Jeff has extensive experience in matters related to both personal and commercial lines of business in continental Europe, the United Kingdom, the United States, and the Middle East. His experience includes leading: the regular review of reserves, reinsurance structures, and pricing level of various (re)insurers due diligence assignments in both established and emerging markets dynamic financial modeling projects for (re)insurers in terms of design, calibration, and validation Jeff is an author and frequent presenter on actuarial topics including: "Integrating Reserve Variability and ERM: A Case Study" ICA 2014 A primary author of the IAA monograph, "Discount Rates in Financial Reporting – A Practical Guide" A contributing author of the IAA monograph "Stochastic Modeling - Theory and Reality from an Actuarial Perspective" and speaker for the European Actuarial Academy (EAA), 2011-2015, based on the IAA monograph "Solvency II – Things we should be thinking about" GIRO 2012 "The importance of assumption consistency when back-testing or using other validation techniques" GIRO 2010 and 2011 Jeff began his career with the Denver office of Milliman in 1993, where he worked until 1997 and again from 2001 until 2005. From 1997 until 2001, Jeff worked for The Cologne Re in Cologne, Germany, where he was the primary reserving actuary responsible for monitoring the U.S. and U.K. subsidiaries of The Cologne Re, with specific responsible for reserving multiple lines of assumed and retroceded business, and where he also served as a liaison between the U.S. and German actuarial departments. Since 2005 Jeff has been based primarily in Europe but has also worked in the Middle East.AffiliationsJeff is involved in committee work of the Casualty Actuarial Society (US) and the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (UK).
